Why Oil the Body?
Each day, we are intermingling with various energetic frequencies, which can in turn impact our energy. What if I told you that there is an Ayurvedic way to protect yourself from such opposing energetic forces?
Abhyanga, a traditional Ayurvedic practice of self-massage using warm oil, promotes relaxation, enhances the flow of vital energy throughout the body, among additional benefits. This nourishing practice helps to strengthen and harmonize the subtle energy field, creating a barrier against external influences and promoting overall well-being. Abhyanga serves as a protection, as if there is a bubble surrounding our auric field.
Prior to stepping out into the world each day, anointing the body with intention provides a divine defense against potentially harmful energy. In addition to Abhyanga’s protective abilities, it connects us to our higher consciousness, improves sleep, releases stagnant energy, pacifies the doshas, tones the skin and nervous system and is a profound act of self love. Being the seat of consciousness, the head is massaged at the start of Abhyanga, stimulating the crown chakra and energy flow. As you travel down the body, gently rub the oil into the skin. Having oiled from head to toe, take some time to allow the oil to absorb. Following absorption, take a warm shower allowing the oil to further penetrate the skin and rinse off the excess oil
